Edge of Grace

Encapsulating the essence of harmony between structure and poise. This design is constructed of varying levels of tension between edges and cascading movement. I was drawn to the geometrical symmetry and the defensive characteristics of the plant and chameleon. The shapes on the left of the garment replicate the plants structure and poise while the right emphasizes the defensive mechanics of the chameleon. The colour pallet is drawn from the plant, but the placement mimic the chameleon’s localized hues. The embellishment mirrors the stripes and emphasizes the textures of the chameleon. This technique is used on the stitches (creating a fringe effect) on the hexagons to mirror the chameleons back bone. Additionally I wanted to invoke a sense of beauty and discipline towards protection and self preservation
